River Park

Terms of use.

Welcome to River Park Stories, a community archive of the river, its parks and the people connected to them. These terms explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you. By creating an account or signing in, you agree to them.

The site is run by Icecream Architecture Limited, Civic House, 26 Civic St, Glasgow, G4 9RH. You can contact us at tech@icecreamarchitecture.com.

Who can join

You must be 16 or over to create an account. You can join as an individual, or on behalf of an organisation or community group if you are allowed to act for it. Please keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account.

Adding to the archive

You are welcome to add collections, stories, photos, documents, recordings, comments and locations. Please only add material that:

  • you made yourself, or have permission to share
  • is accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • does not reveal private information about other people without their agreement, such as home addresses or phone numbers
  • is not offensive, abusive, misleading, unlawful or advertising

When you add a file you choose how it may be used:

  • Your own work, free to share. You let anyone share and adapt it, provided they credit it and share their version on the same terms (the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence). Anyone can download the original.
  • Under copyright, or from another archive with permission. It stays all rights reserved. Visitors can view it on the site, but cannot download the original, and you tell us who holds the rights.

Whichever you choose, you keep ownership of your work. By adding it, you give us permission to store it, show it on the site, and include it in the archive's catalogue records for as long as it is part of the archive.

How the archive is looked after

River Park Stories is cared for by a small team of curators. To keep the archive accurate, safe and useful for everyone, curators may:

  • correct or tidy up the details of a collection or story, such as names, descriptions, dates or locations
  • decide whether something appears on the public map
  • remove a comment, a file or a whole collection or story that breaks these terms or that we are asked to take down
  • approve or turn down edits that other members suggest

Other members can suggest edits to your collections, which you or a curator can then accept or decline.

We may also feature stories on the homepage. If you see something that should not be here, please use the report link on that page. Curators will look at it, and the person who added it will not be told who reported it.

If you delete your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings.

Because this is an archive, what you have added stays in it after your account is deleted, so the record others have built on remains complete. It will be shown as added by "a removed account" rather than under your name. If you would like a particular item taken out, write to tech@icecreamarchitecture.com and we will consider it. Our data protection page explains this in more detail.

Our responsibilities

We work to keep the site running and your information safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Material in the archive is added by members of the community, and we cannot check every detail, so please treat it as a starting point rather than an authority.

We may suspend or close an account that repeatedly or seriously breaks these terms.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we will email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use your account after that means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland.
